Models Are Insecure: True Or False?
Models are insecure, apparently – but why? They can seem like some of the most confident, poised, and not to mention beautiful people on the planet, and yet there is growing speculation that actually, models are insecure.
If Models Are Insecure, Why Model?!
Models often start out as very confident people, but as Miranda Kerr explained, there are so many pressures on them that it can become challenging. It’s not always the case, but often the better you start to do, the more people will expect from you, and the harsher they will be in order for you to achieve goals (whether they are your goals or theirs). Miranda explains that you’re constantly being told that you’re not good enough – either by people in the industry or jealous onlookers – and no matter how well you’re doing, it can start to take its toll.
Of course, this isn’t to put anyone off. Modelling can still be highly rewarding, but you need to practice confidence inwardly before you can portray it outwardly. It might not seem easy, but it can of course be done!
Learning To Love Yourself As A Model
If you want to push past your insecurities and not only appear confident in your own skin, but actually be confident in your own skin, it’s all about learning to love yourself. If your main goal is always success, your happiness may well fall by the wayside!
You have to learn to make time for yourself, and have a definite shut-off from modelling in your schedule where you can focus on yourself. You may well believe that it’s not possible when you’re so busy, but it’s essential in order for your health and so that you don’t crash and burn.
Get plenty of sleep to keep up your energy and mood, and stop comparing yourself to others. Don’t rely on alcohol or anything else to get you by, and be honest with yourself if things aren’t going to plan.
Yes, some models are insecure. But you don’t have to be one of them. Accept any rejection that you may face, but don’t be afraid to speak up when something isn’t right. It’s all about finding a balance in your life, and really learning to understand the nature of the job.
Believe in yourself, and you can do it!
